5 workout tips that help you show acne the door

7 little habits that are wrecking your skin

5 workout tips that help you show acne the door

Here’s how you can exercise your way to clearer skin!

That’s right, good exercise habits can help you give acne the heave-ho – and leave you with glowing, blemish-free skin. Get your workout wrong, however, and you could end up doing more harm than good.

Here are five key acne-busting tips you need to be familiar with before you next hit the gym.

Avoid unnecessarily tight clothing and accessories

Acne doesn’t just appear on the face. Sometimes you may get it on your back or chest too. So while extremely tight workout gear may look great, your clothes could be rubbing against and aggravating inflamed skin. On top of that, when you take off your tight gear, you increase the risk of transferring acne-causing bacteria from your body to your face.

Get up and move!

As well as boosting your general fitness, running, cycling and cardio gym classes will improve your blood circulation to strengthen skin from within, and get those sweat glands working to flush out everything that’s clogging your pores. High impact workouts also get our lymph nodes working harder, as our muscles put the squeeze on these little nodes that function to detoxify the body — this can only lead to clearer skin.

Don’t let your busy schedule become an excuse

After a busy day, it’s only natural to want to curl up in bed and hide from the world. Don’t. Exercise helps release serotonin, the hormone that makes you happy. Hormone balance is vital in the struggle against acne, and taking charge of your lifestyle with a regular exercise routine will give your hormones a much-needed boost. After all, your skin needs all the help you can give it!

Take a chill pill and mediate

Yoga gurus and personal trainers all agree — ending your workout session with a meditation-based cooldown does you a lot of good. What’s more, it can also help your skin out. Lower stress levels mean less hormone imbalance, improved skin strength and clearer, glowing skin in no time at all.

End with a good cleanse

If you’ve worked out right, you’ll probably be a bit of a sweat ball when you’re done. Simply having a shower isn’t enough to rid your pores of nasties, though — make sure you cleanse every time to get rid of deep-lying grime.
