To pop or not to pop, that is the question

7 little habits that are wrecking your skin

To pop or not to pop, that is the question

Four steps to eliminate acne – without squeezing!

Nothing can ruin your day like waking up to find a big red pimple on your face. We’ve all been there — and when you have an obvious zit just sitting there, it’s tempting to give it a good hard squeeze.

You’ve probably been told that popping acne is a big no-no. Guess what? Whoever told you that was absolutely right. Squeezing zits spreads bacteria over your face, irritates your skin and can even cause scarring.

That said, nobody wants to let a great big zit just sit there and fester. So here’s a four-step guide to dealing with pimples — that don’t involve attacking it with your grubby fingers!

Step 1: Get rid of excess oil and dead cells

Cleanse your skin thoroughly with a good exfoliating wash in order to slough away the build-up of excess oil and dead skin cells. This will prep your skin to receive the right ingredients to treat acne.

Step 2: Attack acne at its roots

Give those pores a little TLC. Use acne gel, which specifically targets acne-causing bacteria, to get to the root of the problem. If you suffer from regular breakouts, apply the gel to all the parts of your face that are prone to acne — not just the problem spot.

Step 3: Now close those pores

Is the spot still looking red or swollen? As you’ve tried heat and it didn’t work, let cold have a go instead. Freezing temperatures can tighten blood vessels in irritated areas, so gently rubbing a big red spot with an ice cube might reduce inflammation. It also helps close those pores you just opened, preventing other gunk from getting in.

Step 4: Keep things clean

Wash thoroughly with an anti-bacterial cleanser. One such anti-bacterial ingredient is Thymol-T. After all your treatment steps, you don’t want bacteria or pus sticking around. It’s easier to keep your breakouts at bay if you keep those infected areas pristine. Follow-up with an acne-busting moisturizer with ingredients like salicylic acid or Thymol-T to strengthen skin and prevent further breakouts.
