There’s a time for every brightening ingredient

There’s a time for every brightening ingredient

Are you making the most of your skincare products?

By now you’re probably familiar with a lot of skincare ingredients and what they can do for you.

And there’s a good chance you may have gone a little shopping mad, buying up as many products as you can afford to cover your skin needs.

While it’s important to buy targeted products for different skin concerns, it’s more important to know how to use them properly in order to maximize their use.

To even out skin tone, there are two types of ingredients — the fighters and the fixers.

What are the fighters?

The fighters are ingredients that protect you — antioxidants like vitamin C and SPF properties. You’d want to use protection in the day time, when you’re out and about in the sun and when skin is at risk of the harmful effects of pollution. Use cleansers with Vitamin C and light moisturizers with at least SPF30 in the morning before you step out for the day. Don’t forget to re-apply your sunscreen throughout the day depending on how long you spend in the sun.

What about the fixers?

These are the ingredients that help boost skin repair — like night creams and serums with retinoids (vitamin A) and niacinimide (vitamin B3). As the skin’s natural renewal processes take place at night, between 11pm and 3am, use these products at night to maximize their effects and strengthen skin while you sleep.

Does this mean you don’t use these ingredients in the day? Not at all. There are day creams which include vitamin B3 too, and you should continue using the products you have according to the label directions. When looking for a good night cream, keep these ingredients in mind so these “fixers” work extra hard for your skin.

Keep these tips in mind, and you’ll have even, glowing skin in no time.
