In Cleansing
To make sure you look and feel great, sometimes you have to do things that don’t look particularly sexy. Hair removal is one of those. Although we don’t like to talk about it, many of us have unwanted body hair. An even complexion helps you to look and feel great. So, here’s to a little careful grooming, a good daily lotion and a load of extra confidence in your beauty regime.
Let’s take a look at shaving, tweezing, depilatory creams, waxing and laser so that you can make an informed decision about what would work best for you.
Shaving
This is one of the most common forms of hair removal. Using a blade or razor, the hair is cut off at skin level. It’s relatively painless, save the occasional shaving rash or cut and generally lasts between 2-3 days.
Tweezing
Using tweezers to remove one hair at a time is fine for small areas or single stray hairs. It removes the hair at the root which takes between 3-6 weeks to grow back. Its easy-peasy for a quick fix and is great for accuracy when shaping your brows.
Depilatory Cream
These creams work by using chemicals to dissolve the hair. Hair removal creams characteristically remove hair at, or slightly below, skin level. Because of the chemicals, they can have a somewhat offensive odour and can cause mild to severe skin irritations if improperly used. Hair will typically grow back in between 2-3 days. It’s generally not recommended for use on your facial skin.
Waxing
This is one of the more painful hair removal methods because it involves removing the hair directly at the root. Because of this, the results last longer (between 3- 6 weeks). Melted wax is applied to the skin, which clings to the hairs. The wax is then quickly ripped off pulling the hairs out at the root.
Laser
Laser is a longer-term hair removal option that involves destroying the roots with a laser beam. This generally reduces overall hair growth and, over the longer term, results in finer and lighter hair. Laser hair-removal normally takes around 6 to 12 comparatively pricey sessions for optimal results.
A good skin care regime is essential for looking and feeling good. With a good skincare, excercise and a healthy diet you can support and protect your skin from the ravages of hair removal and achieve a flawless complexion.
