In Cleansing
You would think that washing with water is good enough for your face. After all, it feels clean enough… right? But to make sure that your skin is really clean, you need to cleanse it.
Why cleanse?
Cleansing is the first step to addressing your skin concerns. It helps to prepare your skin for treatment from the inside, and promotes natural skin processes— cell renewal, moisture retention and pH balance. Cleansing removes the daily build-up of oils, impurities and makeup. The build-up of these elements lead to clogged pores and a slowed-down skin cell renewal process, causing pimples, darkened skin and premature ageing.
Can I wash my face with soap?
Of course you can! As long as the soaps are specially formulated for facial skincare, they’re good to go. But washing your face with the same old soap you use for your body? That’s a no-go.
Why can’t I use body soap on my face?
The reason it’s such a bad idea has a lot to do with its pH level. Most body soap bars have a high pH level and are more alkaline when compared to skin’s slightly acidic pH level of 4 to 6. The difference in pH levels can be too harsh for facial skin.
Why is it better to use a cleanser than body soap?
Facial cleansers are less drying and when you choose the specific cleanser for your skin concern, you get the added benefit of special ingredients in them.
